Spirit of Math Students Compete at World Mathematical Olympiad.

On August 13 in Seoul, South Korea, five bright students participated in an international math competition for the first time. The WMO is an internationally-recognized competition attended by elementary and middle school students from countries all around the world. The objective of this competition is to promote international friendship and communication, create a strong fusion-based mathematics education system, and to support and foster future leaders who view learning and the world from a new and exciting perspective. Students are challenged to see and solve complex problems in creative and integrated ways. Our students participated in both individual and team challenges and impressed the judges and coordinators with their exceptional problem-solving, mental math, ad teamwork capabilities. Spirit of Math first gained the WMO’s attention in 2015, where we competed at the Canadian National level and qualified for the Seoul competition. The students had a great time and we look forward to attending next year’s WMO!
