Campus Message

Welcome to the Don Mills campus, where each week students come together with a shared vision to be inspired, motivated and develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. Our campus is in the heart of the Don Mills neighborhood serving hundreds of young mathematicians. We are currently in our 19th year, and as each year passes by we have the pleasure of seeing our graduates coming back to visit from university just to say hello and to update us on their great accomplishments. When comparing the graduates’ accomplishments to those of the new students starting grade 1, we can only imagine what heights these younger students will reach. All of this is possible with the support of the parents and the dedication of the teachers who inspire confidence in their students’ learning, by teaching effectively and concisely. My kids have been attending this program at this campus for the past year. We have seen such tremendous improvements with both our kids. My son wasn't confident in his adding and subtracting but by the end of the year he was even multiplying and dividing with ease. I love how this program teaches them math in an engaging and thought-provoking way. I also love the fact that we can sit in on the classes so that we understand what is being covered and assist them at home. We enjoy the diversity in this campus, both with the students and teachers and can't say enough good things about it. Excited for next year.

I spent many sleepless nights in my room reading over 500-page math textbooks… until fifth grade when I started taking Spirit of Math classes. With my four years of experience, I can truthfully say that Spirit of Math’s challenging curriculum has well-prepared me for high school and helped me succeed in math over the years. But what really differentiates the Spirit of Math program is the community of people they have established. Spirit of Math encourages working with your fellow classmates, Assistant Teachers (older SoM students that help in the classroom), and classroom teachers to work through problems and compare solutions, in-class and during Learn & Share sessions offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at this campus. I am always looking forward to my weekly Spirit of Math class because, even if I find the topic difficult, I have friends to struggle with until we get to a solution. I highly recommend Spirit of Math, if not for the curriculum, then for the people and the community – you can’t get that from a 500-page textbook!
