Bios

Charles has an Honours Bachelor in Commerce from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor of Theology from the University of Toronto, a Master of Religious Education from Union Seminary, New York, and a Master of Arts from Columbia University. Since retiring from teaching in 1993, Charles began working as an educational consultant for various public and private schools. He was also the Math Coordinator for The Academy for Gifted Children, P.A.C.E., and a director for Spirit of Math Schools Inc.

Charles developed the Spirit of Math method while working at Zion Heights Junior High School in the Board of Education for the City of North York in Ontario, Canada.

Charles Ledger has received the following awards:

  • Claude Watson Award (1985) from the North York Board of Education, to recognize excellent teaching ability, compassion and understanding of students, and for outstanding contribution to the school.
  • Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching (1994) for excellence in science, technology and mathematics.
  • René Descartes Foundation Medalist (1992) from the University of Waterloo for signal service to mathematics in the schools of Ontario. Charles Ledger is a life member in the Society of Medalists.
